The Ooni of Ife, also referred to as, Ooni of Ile-Ife (Ọọ̀ni of Ilè-Ifẹ̀), is traditional ruler/monarch of the ancient Yoruba city in South Western part of Nigeria 6 Geo-Political zones. The Ife city, is located in Osun State and occupies a land area of around 1791 kilometers square.
Ooni Oranmiyan of Ife
The Ooni dynasty in Nigeria goes back to 100 of years ago. The Ooni Oranmiyan of Ife is said to have lived between 1200 to 1300AD. And also known for creation of new Yoruba kingdoms and towns. His son, known as Eweka became the first Oba of Benin located in present day Edo State. Ajaka, another of his son became the first Alaafin of Oyo. Another of his sone Osile became Oke-Ona Egba and Ooni Lajamisan, who is also a decendant of Oranmiyan also was well known for the establishment of what is known as the modern day Ife history.
