This post contains a list of the television (TV) stations in Nigeria both private owned and the ones owned by the Government. Which are free to air type (anyone can access it for free) with the right TV set or receiver.

Hardly, any average Nigerian home you would not see a television set. It is more like a standard and the history of the television and their stations in Nigeria dates back to October of 31, 1959. When the first program was aired by the Western Nigeria Television Service (WNTS).

This service was delivered by what is known by the present Nigeria as the south western geo-political zone of the country. This made Nigeria became the first country in the entire Africa to air a TV program.

The first thing that would be considered is indigenous TV station in Nigeria, called NTA (Nigerian Television Authority) which is owned and managed by the Federal Government of the country. It runs across each State of the 36 States, which make up the Nigerian Federation.

The NTA is the largest television network also in Africa, since it runs through the 36 States of the Nigeria, airing programs 24/7 and with over 96 stations spread across Nigeria.
